Officials have issued SMS connections with a picture of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin to lure victims in order to cash in on public attention in the administration’s digital wallet program.
According to government official Chai Watcharonke, many persons in Roi Et state have already fallen for the ruse.
They were sent a website that appeared to take them to a website where they could check their registration status for the 10, 000-baht flyer.

The government advised the government not to press any URLs that are attached to SMS messages because it does not have a plan of issuing these notifications to person’s phones, he said.
