Digi collaborates with Pokémon Go to turn its stores into in-game Gyms

Pokemon Go players can rejoice in knowing that Digi will be collaborating with the augmented reality mobile game to turn 237 of the telco’s official stores into virtual in-game Gyms, from Sept 3 until Oct 15 of this year.

According to Digi, the limited event will also feature a total of 34 scheduled raids at the stores, with players having the opportunity to battle and capture all four forms of Deoxys during the event period.

Those keen should note that the first two days of the event will feature four raids each day, with the remaining raids being held once a day until Sept 30.

The telecommunications company will be giving away RM30 worth of in-game freebies – including 10 Poke Balls, 10 Max Potions, five Max Revives, three Premium Raid Passes, one Lucky Egg, and one incubator – for the first 50 players to visit their Digi stores at The Gardens Mall, Sunway Pyramid, Alamanda, Taman Molek, and One Utama Shopping Centre on Sept 3.

All Pokemon Go players will also be eligible for an in-game bundle worth RM10 as well, including five Poke Balls, three Potions, two Revives, and two Premium Raid Passes, with a minimum transaction of RM5 at Digi self-service kiosks, though Digi says this bundle is limited in stock.

Non-Digi users don’t need to fret, as the kiosks also allow for reloads and bill payments with other telcos, Touch ‘n Go top ups, and other utility bill payments. They just need to tap on “Redeem FREE Code” once payment has been made to receive a code printed on the receipt.

Digi has included the full steps to follow for the code’s redemption on their website.

For both prepaid and postpaid Digi customers, a special unlimited Pokemon Go Internet pass will also be available for RM5, which offers unlimited Internet access for Pokemon Go for seven days.

Prepaid users who purchase or renew their prepaid plan during the campaign period will also receive RM5 worth of free credit to use on the unlimited Pokemon Go pass.

In conjunction with the event, Digi’s official Facebook page will be hosting a “Who’s that Pokemon” contest, where up to five users a week stand a chance to win a Funko Pop of various Pokemon characters.
