NAKHON RATCHASIMA: On Wednesday night, a diesel-fueled tour bus carrying Indian tourists catches fire in the area of Pak Chong in this northeastern province.

According to Pol Capt Suraphat Phadi, a deputy investigator at the Pak Chong police station, the Pak Chong provincial fire truck and a recovery system were dispatched to Mittraphap Road after they received a statement that a vehicle had caught flames.

When they arrived at the scene, they discovered the van fully engulfed in flames, which took about 20 hours to extinguish.

Driver Aphichat Linda, 46, was cited by Pol Capt Suraphat as saying that the vehicle was taking 50 visitors to At Chong for a one-night be. Before the tragedy, the vehicle had stopped for a brief period at a local restaurant.

One of the travellers noticed a fireplace at the back as the van was about to depart. All of the people were able to comfortably depart the bus.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
