The second phase of a project to relocate macaques from the Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park to the Huai Sai Wildlife Breeding Centre was unveiled by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation ( DNP ) in Phetchaburi yesterday.
Bars have been placed at 12 locations around the Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park, known as Khao Wang, in Muang area, to get 205 lemurs.
In the first step, which took place in December next year, 204 lemurs were caught.
The operation prioritized capturing the flock leaders, which a source said was challenging because the macaques were erratic and violent.
The captured species are now in great health and were then moved to the Cha-am district’s Huai Sai Wildlife Breeding Center.
The DNP and the provincial legal system work together to stop the monkey conflict between the people and the people.
Other regions that are dealing with the same issue might also adopt the strategy.
Yuthapol Angkinan, assistant to the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, Atthapol Charoenchansa, DNP director- standard, and Edwin Wiek, Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand director- general, joined the release.
According to authorities, there were primarily more than 1, 000 lemurs living on a hills page at the park.
Citizens in the Muang area complained about the creatures ‘ aggressive behavior toward people.
According to municipal authorities, the macaque population that single increased rapidly from about 9,500 in April of last year to 12, 000 by June of that year.
