“With a heavy heart I have to announce her passing away, ” the actress’ sibling Tracey Dowse mentioned in a statement.
She also announced the girl sister’s death on the actress’ Instagram accounts, remembering her as an advocate for Black theater who was also dedicated to sharing the particular profession with kids. Dowse acted and directed for the Negro Ensemble Company plus directed plays for the Amazing Grace Conservatory, an inner-city youth theatrical training program.
Dowse was well known on her role as Mrs. Yvonne Teasley within the hit series “Beverly Hills, 90210” and recently appeared in the HBO comedy collection “Insecure” as Molly Carter’s (Yvonne Orji) therapist. In addition to acting roles in lots of movies and TV series, Dowse also guided film, including “Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story, ” which premiered in April at the Pan African Film Celebration.
“I am therefore proud to have already been her sister, ” Tracey Dowse told CNN. “She lighted up the stage and screen. She knew how to dance in every area of your life and see the joy. Something we can all study from. ”
Dowse’s manager, Sandra Siegal from Siegal Firm, remembered her client and friend in a statement Sunday.
“I am heartbroken on the loss of our brilliantly talented, beautiful, classy, eloquent and adoring Denise, who’ve I have had the joy and blessing of managing and participating on her career for over 25 years, as well as an individual friendship. I am confused, but have acquired so much from knowing her. Denise’s legacy and memory can live on forever meant for she has truly touched so many, ” Siegal said.
Throughout her decades-long profession, Dowse appeared in several TV series, including “Charmed, ” “Girlfriends, ” “The West Wing” and “Law and Order. ” The girl also held functions in movies including “Pleasantville” and “Requiem for a Dream, inch according to her IMDB profile.
