Chalermchai: Best job at the eye party

A group of MPs led by Dech-it Khaothong, a Democrat MP for Songkhla, attempted to oppose acting deputy leader Narapat Kaewthhong’s leadership bid after receiving objections from some lawmakers, according to an official party source on Wednesday.

Instead, they urged Chalermchai Sri-on, the Democrat Party’s standing secretary-general, to take over as party president before the party public assembly tomorrow to elect a new president and members of the executive committee, according to the source.

They thought Mr. Chalermchai may aid in bringing the group together, the source said.

A new group leader may be chosen tomorrow after a lengthy management void, according to acting deputy Democrat secretary-general Chaichana Detdecho.

All eligible party people have the right to be nominated for the best position, Mr. Chaichana assured, adding that there would be enough members to complete the leadership ballot.

Every group member has an equal opportunity to run for office in the management race because the Democrat Party is a social organization, he claimed.

No one is aware of who will be chosen as the new group leader because the group is not owned by any specific person, according to Mr. Chaichana.

Mr. Chaichana even downplayed information that he would be chosen as the group’s fresh secretary-general, stating that his decision to run had not yet been made.

He emphasized that the new party leader has work to regain party cohesion, develop policies to address the nation’s financial problems, and push for decentralization.
