The home of an opposition MP was raided by India’s economic crimes firm in response to corruption claims.
The most recent party leader to be questioned by federal agencies is Sanjay Singh of Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party( AAP ).
Authorities are looking into alleged fraud connected to a state-wide wine selling policy that has since been abolished.
The Bharatiya Janata Party( BJP ), which controls the federal government, has been accused of engaging in” dirty politics” by the AAP, which has categorically refuted the claims.
The AAP, which emerged from a significant action against problem more than ten years ago, is sensitive to issues surrounding financial wrongdoing.
The group has also often clashed with the BJP as it tries to establish itself as a significant opposition power.
According to the PTI news agency, Enforcement Directorate ( ED ) representatives visited Mr. Singh’s home early on Wednesday morning to question him.
Another AAP officials connected to the case would also be searched, according to authorities.
When the Delhi government was accused by India’s federal investigation firm, CBI, of using a new scheme to favor specific liquor traders who had allegedly paid bribes, investigations got under way for the first time in August of last year. After that, the plan was abandoned.
The ED even filed a case under the India Money Laundering Act, according to the CBI’s research. Manish Sisodia, a former deputy chief minister who also denies the charge but is still in custody, was detained by the CBI in February in connection with the situation.
The attacks on Wednesday have not yet received any comment from Mr. Singh’s celebration, who expressed confidence that nothing would be discovered.
According to AAP spokesman Reena Gupta, Sanjay Singh was outspoken about the Adani scandal and the dark money that was invested in his business, which led to the ED raid. ” Neither they ( ED ) nor they will find anything today.” None of us are scared.
Mr. Singh had frequently brought up the subject in the legislature and demanded that the allegations be looked into. Additionally, he had requested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi address the issue privately.
Satyendra Jain, the health minister of Delhi, was detained last year in connection with a situation involving money laundering; he has denied the charges and is still incarcerated after the Delhi jury rejected his bond plea.
