Deep Dive Podcast: Bus and train fare hikes – How are they calculated?

Here’s an extract from the discussion: &nbsp,

Crispina Robert: &nbsp,
When ( our volunteer ) Yan Yun spoke to people, one of the things they said is that 10 cents seems like a small amount, but one place they brought up was that, unlike meals- where they can choose to have someone cheaper- coach and buses, they have no alternative. And finally, it adds up.

Terence Fan: &nbsp,
One of the silver linings with all these new rail lines, and then there (are ) also some bus realignments here and there, is that, actually, I hear that for some people, because there are now multiple pathways that get to the same point and from the same place, you choose the right way, which means a shorter distance. &nbsp,

Crispina:
Steve, you found out about your teenagers’ charges?

Steven:

Terence:
That’s correct. I think for the CBD moreover, correctly? So it’s not just for the children, it’s for everyone. &nbsp,

Steven:
But if we look at this, yes, 10 cents seems like it could be a bit, but when we look at the rest of the world, actually, it’s still ( affordable ). When I compare the two, it seems like we’re still getting a very fine deal.
