Dedicated area for flying unmanned aircraft launched at Pandan Reservoir

Signs with information on unmanned aircraft regulations and on-site working guidelines have been set up in the area to “raise awareness and teach enthusiasts on safe flying and good practices”  in posting the community space to reservoir users, added CAAS.

Feather flags plus water buoys have also been set up to mark the boundaries of the flying area, that is located at least 400m away from the closest residential blocks to safeguard the privacy plus security of residents in those blocks.

The UAFA will also host regular programmes and workshops for community outreach and to educate unmanned aircraft enthusiasts upon safe and responsible flying.

The particular operating hours for that pilot UAFA are from 9am to 6pm daily, plus interested members of the public may join the Pandan Reservoir UAFA neighborhood Telegram chat “UA Flying Areas” to receive regular updates plus important notices concerning the site.

Mister Han Kok Juan, director-general of CAAS, said that “the Unmanned Aircraft Flying Region will help build a safe and responsible flying culture in Singapore as recreational traveling becomes more popular”, adding that “this is particularly important given our dense metropolitan landscape and contending airspace uses”.

Mr Han noted that the UAFA had been well-received prior to its official launch.

“We are very urged by the positive suggestions we have  obtained from residents plus unmanned aircraft aficionados who participated in our pre-launch on-site workshops and hobbyist club trials, ” this individual said.

“They have helped us validate and create further refinements to the pilot site and our educational programs to make them a lot more accessible and attractive to users. ”
