Death toll hits 98 in Japan quake

Five days after a massive earthquake struck central Japan, with 98 people now confirmed dead, rescuers combed through rubble on Saturday ( Jan 6 ) instead of looking for survivors.

With 211 individuals in the Ishikawa place of Japan’s major Honshu island nevertheless unaccounted for, officials predicted that the death toll from the 7.5-magnitude earthquake on January1st would increase.

The job of hundreds of rescue workers has been hampered by bad weather, including streets that are torn asunder by gaping fissures and struck by fallen trees and rocks. Winter was expected for Sunday.

On Thursday, two elderly women were rescued from their homes ‘ ruins, but there has n’t been any cause for celebration.

A dog barked as an AFP group recorded the clean-up function on Friday in Suzu, where dozens of homes are in ruins, signaling a terrible discovery.

According to horse coach Masayo Kikuchi, training for disaster rescue dogs starts out like a game of hide-and-seek.

They are ultimately taught to bark when they spot someone hiding beneath the debris.
