Cyclist, 71, killed by truck in Korat

NAKHON RATCHASIMA: A 71-year-old cyclist had been hit by a vehicle and died on a road in Sikhiu district during his daily ride in early stages Thursday morning.

The accident occured on Bangkok-bound Mittraparb highway near Ban Lad Khao weighing station, plus was  reported in order to police at four. 40am.

Police and rescue workers sent to picture reported finding Thawat Phamorn, 71, associated with Ban Nong Han in tambon Nong Ya Khao, within Sikhiu district, resting dead on the side from the road.   A truck was parked close by and a damaged bike lay on the road, along with pieces from the truck’s broken indicator gentle.  

Local residents told police Mr Thawat rode his bike along the road on his daily exercise every single morning.  

Truck car owner Phanom Wongsanao, 37, of Sakon Nakhon province’s Phanna Nikhom district, said he or she was delivering a lot of mushroom spawn from Sakon Nakhon to Nakhon Si Thammarat and had remaining a petrol station less than one kilometre down the road.  

According to Mr Phanom, the cyclist suddenly veered in to his truck’s route. He had no chance  of stopping and hit the bike. Mr Phanom stopped and immediately called police.

The dead cyclist was sent to a hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Police were looking into the cause of the accident.
