According to instructors, the findings demonstrate that students may think effectively to succeed, which applies to a wide range of fields, even those that are structured, like science and technology.
” Creative skills have definitely been propagated in various forms, not only in the visual arts … but also in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics )”, said Mr Paul Benedict Lincoln, a senior visual and performing arts lecturer at the National Institute of Education ( NIE ).
” There has definitely been a focus on looking at things like divergent thinking and critical thinking, all of which are generating an output known as” creative”.”
NEED TO BOLSTER CONFIDENCE
But, Singaporeans do not think of themselves as innovative.
Despite performing well in the study, only 64 % of individuals reported feeling confident or pretty confident, compared to 73 % for the OECD average.
Yet the Ministry of Education’s director-general of learning  , Liew Wei Li said the exceptional benefits caught MOE by surprise.
Teachers emphasized the need to instill trust in students both in classrooms and at home so that they can see their ability and abilities.
Ms. Wong urged teachers and parents to support individuals ‘ creativity and support their efforts when they do so.
Teachers must be open-minded, she said,” It’s important for our teachers to ( provide ) a conducive environment where students feel safe to share ideas that may not be shared by the teachers.”
For example, inquiry-based understanding approaches provide students with the room to practice alternative and share their voices, task their thinking and come up with innovative solutions, she noted.
Modal resources are also available in the classrooms, including videos and technological tools that enable artificial intelligence, which can be used to inspire students to create ideas and demonstrate their knowledge in a creative way.
As students eventually enter the workplace, imagination will be just as important – in terms of innovation and agility, said educators.  ,
Because the Institute for Adult Learning’s director, associate professor Renee Tan, said,” You actually need to be creative even more than any other ( traits ) today.”
MOE says it may continue to support teachers in developing their educational strategy to encourage kids ‘ creativity and improve their self-assurance.
