Crafts show fetes HM Queen Sirikit

An exhibition about Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The King Mother’s achievements in supporting and advertising local handicrafts will be on display from August 15 to April 10 at the Queen’s Gallery in honor of Her Majesty’s 90th birthday upon Aug 12.

The exhibition, jointly organised by the Silpacheep Section of the Support Foundation associated with Her Majesty Princess or queen Sirikit and Accurate Visions Group may run under the banner “Devotion to Works of Arts”.

It will display masterpieces of weaving cloth and demonstrations of basketry weaving. Handi crafts made by local people will also be put on sale in the gallery on Ratchadamnoen Klang Avenue.

Thanphuying Charungjit Teekara, private admin to Her Majesty Full Sirikit The Queen Mother, said recently the exhibition accolades the Queen Mom’s efforts and patience over five years to help improve the standard of living of those residing in remote control areas.

Thanphuying Charungjit, also the foundation’s secretary-general, said people have been able to make a living using their weaving skills using raw materials found in their communities.

The Queen Mom was inspired aid local handicraft arts during her field visits in remote control areas with His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great.

With the Queen Mom’s far-sighted vision, Thanphuying Charungjit said they have been promoted to improve individuals quality of life and revenue.

“The first thing the Princess or queen Mother saw when visiting the remote control areas was a woven basket carrying food and flowers presented with her and His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great by local people.

“This influenced her to help create their local intelligence and talent on the arts. She has a solid passion to conserve plus preserve local arts planted in Thai blood.

Thanphuying Charungjit said Her Majesty has worked to preserve the organic resources and unprocessed trash found in local places, explaining she asked experts to educate the villagers on how to choose mature plant parts to produce the products.

True Visions Group helped make a documentary honoring Her Majesty’s 90th birthday celebration.
