After two delays, the Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions at the Supreme Court has rescheduled the reading of its decision on an abuse of power event against criminal former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra for December 26.

The case’s decision was originally scheduled to be read by the judge on November 9, but it was postponed to November 29 due to a panel of judges ‘ inability to attend. Nevertheless, the decision that was supposed to be made on Nov. 29 was once more delayed because one of the nine magistrates had passed away and a new judge had not yet been chosen.

After the new judge took office, the court moved the checking back to December 26 at 1.30 p.m. on Sunday.

Thawil Pliensri, who at the time was the National Security Council’s secretary-general ( NSC), was appointed to the position of prime minister on September 30, 2011, which is when the alleged abuse of power occurred. The then-national police chief, Pol Gen Wichian Potphosri, was chosen by the government to succeed Mr. Thawil at the NSC.

The move order was later revoked as a result of Mr. Thawil’s petition to the Supreme Administrative Court. Additionally, the Constitutional Court unanimously ruled that Yingluck had misused her authority by interfering with the transport of state employees.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission recommended the solicitor common file a complaint against Yingluck in the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions on July 1, 2020, after determining there were grounds to believe she had been dishonest in carrying out her duties.

When Yingluck failed to show up in person for the first reading of the case in November 2022, an arrest warrant was issued for her.
