A young woman affiliate and the variant past priest of Wat Rai Khing have been detained on suspicion of embezzling 300 million ringgit from the renowned Buddhist temple in Nakhon Pathom.

Aranyawan Wangthapan, 28, and Yaem Inkrungkao, 70, originally Phra Thamma Wachiranuwat, were taken to the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct on Saturday to ask for their detention.

Around 10:30 am, the match appeared worn out and stressed as they were led from police tissue to a police vehicle. They declined to respond to inquiries from writers.

The woman and the original abbot have been accused of wrongdoing and embezzlement.

Police investigators opposed loan, claiming that the investigation had resulted in significant losses and potential tampering with the facts. The officers made a 12-day detention plea, and the judge granted it.

Yaem was quickly transported to the Bangkok Remand Prison despite not having applied for loan. The Central Women’s Correctional Institution placed her in the custody of a judge after her parole request was refused.

Before lawyers has file charges in Thailand, suspects in criminal cases may be detained for up to seven 12-day times, or 84 time.

The original priest turned himself in to Bangkok authorities on Thursday as they approached him to request an arrest warrant for him for allegedly extorting 300 million ringgit from church money to gamble online.

On Thursday evening, he was formally removed from the monkhood.

Ms. Aranyawan, who is alleged to have worked for the bishop as a gaming broker, was detained on Thursday in Pattaya and taken to the Bangkok Central Investigation Bureau.

She was detained last year for allegedly using the Lagalaxy911 betting website, and she eventually received bail.

She was connected to three businesses that used the gaming website to launder money, according to authorities. Over 800 million baht were in flow over the past five decades, according to authorities.

According to the authorities, Ms. Aranyawan acknowledged during questioning that she had known the original priest since she attended Wat Rai Khing School. She had initially borrowed 40 million baht from him in 2021 for purchase. She claimed that since then, she had often contacted him via phone and video calling.
