Cost of living tops Singaporeans’ concerns ahead of GE, 1 in 4 voters undecided on who to support: Survey

UNDECIDED Citizens

One in four Singapore are still unsure of their choice for the next general election, with 26.8 % of voters saying they are either not very specific or not at all.

The least specific age party, with a third of Singaporeans still undecided, is between 21 and 29.

Older Singaporeans over 50 are the most confident about their options, with nearly three-quarters of the available citizens sure of it by the polling day.

Citizens from middle-income and high-income homes are also considerably more sure of their choices, with 74 per cent saying they know who they intend to vote for, compared to 65 per share of low-income citizens.

Social CONCERNS A Focus

The study respondents mainly identified financial problems as their top concerns when it comes to the key factors that influence their choices at the ballot box.

Each participant was asked to pick their top two problems from a list of 20 variables.

While the cost of living and inflation, work and poverty, and the state of the economy occupied the top three spots, social concerns followed carefully.

Concerns over political stability and consistency, faith in a political gathering, and management of the current state, sat in third to fifth place both.

Housing prices that were rising followed in sixth place. One of the best three election problems involving people under the age of 49 was also highly regarded among those citizens.
