Cooler temps on their way

The Thai Meteorological Department ( TMD) has issued a weather warning for tomorrow through Thursday, which will show an unseasonal drop in the temperature and stormy conditions.

Upper Thailand did experience unpredictable conditions, including storms, thunder, and potential lightning strikes, according to Deputy TMD Director-General Natthawut Daendee.

Temperatures in the northern provinces will fall by 5-8 degrees Celsius following these conditions, while those in various regions will drop by 2-4 degrees.

20 % of the area in Bangkok is expected to experience storms, with temperatures as low as 26C between monday and Thursday.

The polar swirl, which can increase from the North Pole to warmer parts, has a major role in this phenomenon, despite China’s warm air mass being its primary source.

The Gulf of Thailand, southern regions, and the Andaman Sea are expected to experience storms in the south due to east and southerly breezes.

Thailand has previously experienced heat falls over the summer, most prominently in 2011 and 2016 and 2022.
