SINGAPORE: Travellers can expect continuous heavy traffic at Singapore’s land checkpoints during the upcoming September school holidays, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority ( ICA ) said on Monday ( Aug 26 ).
In the run-up to and during the time from August 30 to September 8, transportation is expected to be heavy at Woodlands and Tuas gates.
In a journey advisory, ICA advised travelers to account for longer waiting times.
” We likewise seek their knowledge to collaborate with ICA soldiers, observe traffic rules and sustain street control”, it added.
The property borders bridges between Singapore and Malaysia are among the busiest in the world.
More than 540, 000 visitors – a document – crossed both gates on Aug 8 ahead of the National Day long trip, ICA said.
According to Malaysian customers tailback, car travelers departing during these peak times had to wait up to three hours before being cleared through immigration, according to the authority. They can also take cross-border bus service as an alternative to using their own vehicles to cross the checkpoints.
Before beginning their adventures, ICA even advised drivers to test the traffic conditions at the checkpoints on LTA’s One Motoring site.
