Condom use drops among teenagers

According to the Aids Health Care Foundation ( AHF ) Thailand, teenagers are at risk of contracting HIV ( human immunodeficiency virus ) because unprotected sex is so common.

According to Kritsiam Arayawongchai, director of the AHF Thailand Country Programme, the organization collaborated with 25 healthcare facilities to gather HIV blood tests from 73, 081 people between the ages of 15 and 50 from January 1 to October 31.

According to the findings, new HIV people made up 152 or 2.9 % of the 5,116 youth surveyed between the ages of 15 and 19.

People who fall into the 20 to 24 age group are also thought to be at higher risk. 387, or 2.4 %, of the 15,646 participants in this age group were HIV positive.

In order to increase the awareness of HIV/Aids among 500 high school students at Wat Ratcha-orot School, Mr. Kritsiam spoke at a recent conference titled” To Love is Not Bad, But Do Not Forget to Protect Yourself,” which was co-hosted by the Impulse Bangkok charity group.

According to data from the Disease Control Department, only 80.3 % of children between the ages of 15 and 24 use condoms, but 40 % do so after engaging in sexual activity with their regular partners.

The statistics show how many young people are unaware of using contraceptives to prevent HIV and sexually transmitted diseases. The best and most visible form of protection for young people is provided by contraception. Thailand will not be able to meet its goal of having no new HIV infections by 2030 if they do not defend themselves, according to Mr. Kritsiam.

The principal of the school, Woranan Khankaeng, stated that spreading knowledge of HIV is essential. Teenagers Safe from HIV is a plan that the institution is running. Additionally, it provides assessment and health care services. ” Avoidance is preferable to cure.” To prevent new diseases, he hoped the students would assist in spreading the word about safe sex with their loved ones and friends.
