A FRESH MANDAGGER FOR Frightened Days

After Mr. Wong’s second National Day Rally, the first screen for the crucial general election is September 2024. With this, Mr. Wong will have only five times to present a compelling argument to Singaporeans for a new democratic authority.

Given the worsening international political situation, particularly after Iran launched drone and missiles at Israel over the weekend, it seems that the ruling PAP is feeling some urgency to vote. Singaporeans will be able to see the issues and challenges facing the nation from the perspective of an electoral authority for the next five years before things start to spiral and choose the gathering with the best chance of constituting the government.

We already saw this line of thinking in the 2020 General Election, held week after Singapore emerged from its COVID-19 circuit switch. According to Mr. Lee, the government had the ability to create strong calls while the pandemic was occurring.

The PAP will try to convince voters that it has been tried and tested in security and defense issues and can be trusted to result in a troubled time despite the rise in global conflicts and anxieties.

However, the accelerated dispatch does not exclude the possibility that the election will take place in mid-2025, as it did after the Budget 2025. More freedoms are available to the PAP and Mr. Wong regarding the election’s call-up.
