Commentary: It’s disturbing that deepfake porn and online harms are seen as unavoidable in our digital lives

Legislation ENGLISHMENT CAN ONLY BE Very Way.

Laws protection, by description, comes in after the insulting action– and the harm – has occurred.

Protection is difficult because hazardous content creators may be outside our government’s purview and enjoy the anonymity that the internet provides. Prevention is certainly even more difficult.

What are the options for both individuals and the neighborhood?

Second, the bigDON’T – not share an unpleasant post even if it is to reject it. Every share is a new abuse on the sufferer.

Secondly, as a community we need to indicate what are ideal behaviours. Without realizing the extent of the injury, the teenagers who created the algorithmic nudes may view it as a passing gimmick. It is not enough to suggest “boys will be boys” – that merely avoids responsibilities.

We need to have more discussions and agree, as a group, the boundaries of polite do towards one another.

Just as important, we need to think about what restorative justice may seem like these. What kind of preventative instruction may victims receive?

Lastly, patients should not be afraid to call out the culprit. Where a crime has been committed, report it to the government. If you know of anyone who has been the goal, do not hesitate to help. Individuals may not feel uncomfortable, it is important that they take back control.

While it looks like AI is here to stay, the real measure of humanity’s development is not in technology, but how we treat each other. This educate ourselves and take action now to stop this worrying pattern from adding more victims.
