Due to the La Nina phenomenon, Thailand‘s winter will be warm until mid-February, and this summer won’t be as warm as it has been, according to experts.

Thailand entered the La Nina phase last month, as confirmed by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ( NOAA ) for areas in the central and east-central equatorial Pacific Ocean, said Jessada Denduangboripant, an environmental expert at Chulalongkorn University.

He also cited a recent statement from the Thai Meteorological Department on Facebook, in which it was anticipated that cool temperature would continue to be until mid-February when the summer season begins to view.

Southwestern and southern wind storms are expected to cover the nation with high moisture and increased possibilities of storms from February to May as a result of the La Nina sensation. &nbsp,

Due to the high humidity and rain, March and April will experience lower temperature than in past years.

According to Mr. Jessada, there will be more rain in April and May than in past times. Continuous weather can be expected in June, he added.

Sonthi Kotchawat, a Thai Environmental Scholars Club health and environment professional, said the recent low temperature, which have dropped to single figures in some regions, were attributed to the polar vortex happening in China.

A large area of warm, rotating heat encircling both of Earth’s polar regions creates a polar jet stream from west to east, known as a polar swirl.

China has had its coldest temperature in 30 years since last month, with the lowest temperature in the Mohe City of Daxing’anling district at -53 degree Fahrenheit.

According to Mr. Sonthi, the warm mass from China has also increased heat pollution in Thailand.
