COE quota to increase by more than 6% for May to July quarter

The Land Transport Authority announced on Wednesday ( Apr 16 ) that the overall supply of Certificates of Entitlement ( COE ) for the May to July period will increase by more than 6 % compared to the previous quarter.

The COE entire will increase from 17, 133 in the previous quarter, which saw an 8 % increase, to 18, 232.

There is a 21 % increase in the total limit compared to the same period last year, May 2024 to July 2024.

In comparison to the previous quarter, the quota for Category A has increased by 10 %, 5 % for Category B, and C, and 3 % for Category D.

On May 5, bidding under the new limit may begin.

LTA stated that the COE limit for the bidding phase of August 2025 to October 2025 will be announced in July.

These elements make up the COE limit for the future quarter:

  • 25 % of the alternative Submissions from deregistered vehicles were deregistered in the twelve-month period April 2024 to March 2025.
  • Provision for Category C automobile population rise of 0.25 percent annually based on the category C vehicle population as of December 31 and 2024.
  • Adjustments to the car population, expired COEs, the Commercial Vehicle Early Turnover Scheme, redistribution from guaranteed deregistrations, more COEs, and changes in the taxi population.

From February onward, LTA announced that up to 20 000 extra COEs may be gradually injected into all car categories starting in” the next few years.” With the application of ERP 2.0 in mind, the move was made.
