Coast guard took ‘appropriate enforcement action’ as Indonesian fishing boats entered Singapore waters: SPF

Indonesian fishing boats repeatedly entered Singapore waters, the Police Coast Guard said on Thursday ( Jan 2 ), prompting the Singapore Police Force to take “appropriate enforcement action.” &nbsp,

SPF said it was informed of news reports and a video that Indonesian fishermen who were fishing in Singapore’s territorial waters close to Tuas on December 24 had published in response to media inquiries. &nbsp,

A man is seen falling into the sea in a popular video posted by information outlet Batampos on TikTok, obviously as a result of a boat’s powerful waves. He was rescued by the other fishing, one of whom had been heard shouting to the police ship’s crew.

SPF reported that Police Coast Guard officers had observed some Indian fishing vessels entering and exiting Singapore territorial waters on December 24 and giving details of the incident at around 8 a.m. &nbsp,

The coast guard “deter and cease” illegal warships from entering Singapore waterways by placing its boats there as a result.

Two of the five Indonesian fishing vessels entered Singapore waterways further and were heading northwestwards in the direction of Tuas View Extension at around 1.20 p.m.

The two fishing vessels were “intercepted” by a coast guard ship to stop them from extending further into the area. &nbsp,

The sailors were finally given a warning to keep because unauthorised vessels were prohibited from entering the place when they were being caught by police coast guard soldiers on board the fish warships in Singapore’s territorial waters.

They finally acceded and left Singapore’s regional lakes at around 1.40 p.m., SPF said. &nbsp,

The Police Coast Guard responded to the fishermen’s incursion with suitable police actions, the statement continued.

European vessels should follow Singapore’s instructions when entering its waters, according to the police, and the coast guard will continue to carry out its duties in a “professional and secure manner” in Singapore waters. &nbsp,

At their request, the Singapore Consulate in Batam has engaged several Indonesian participants in this event and will continue to do so, according to SPF.

The event was recently disclosed to the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency.

It met the sailors involved on Dec 29 to assess their situation following the” harmful “event, Indonesia’s state news agency Antara reported.

Danil Mahadir Van, an 18-year-old man who fell into the sea, claimed to be fishing in the area with his parents.

We did not want to leave because we believed it to be a part of our fish community, but the Singapore officers immediately came to hunt us away. However, the ( patrol boat ) continued to circle around, making powerful waves as I sank into the water, Maharashtra was cited as saying by CNN Indonesia on December 28.
