CNB head Sam Tee to step down, take over as director of CPIB from September

SINGAPORE: The&nbsp, Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau ( CPIB ) &nbsp, will get a new director from Sep 1. &nbsp,

Mr Tee Chong Fui Sam, the current head of the Central Narcotics Bureau ( CNB), will succeed Mr Denis Tang, the Prime Minister’s Office ( PMO ) said on Wednesday ( Aug 7 ).

Mr Tang, who is on deputation to the commission, &nbsp, has served as director of CPIB since Oct 1, 2018.

He will work for the MHA, or Ministry of Home Affairs.

Mr Tee was appointed to the position by President&nbsp, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, with guidance from Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, said PMO. &nbsp,

In 1994, the older associate commissioner of police was appointed. &nbsp,

He has held a number of top positions in the Home Team throughout his career, including those as captain of the Traffic Police and the Airport Police Division, as well as top producer of the Joint Operations Group at the Ministry of Home Affairs Headquarters, according to PMO. &nbsp,

It added that Mr. Tee even served as CNB’s “leader” in bringing Singapore’s medicine situation under control, detained, and conducted numerous drug raids, including those involving international partners.

MHA said in a separate speech that Mr Tee, 54, was &nbsp, appointed chairman of CNB in November 2022.

He “encouraged inland protective education and wedding efforts to combat the growing liberal approach toward drug use among boys, and raise awareness of the damages of drugs in the general community,” according to the government.

Under his management, CNB organized numerous activities, including the first May 2024 Drug Victims Remembrance Day.
