
SINGAPORE:  , Clean-up businesses off the northern coast of Pulau Ubin and along Changi Beach are continuing following an oil leak at Langsat Terminal in Johor, Singapore officials said on Friday ( Apr 4).  ,
Booms will be deployed at Chek Jawa Wetlands in Pulau Ubin as a precautionary measure to protect the biodiversity-sensitive areas, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore ( MPA ), National Environment Agency ( NEA ), National Parks Board ( NParks ) and Singapore Food Agency ( SFA ) said in a joint media release.  ,
SFA is also working with seafood fields in the East Johor Islands to take the necessary precautionary steps.
The Johor Port Authority has informed MPA that the oil leak at Langsat Terminal has stopped and that the flow clean-up is continued.
An oil piece caused by the hole was sighted in the northeast Johor Strait off the northeast coast of Pulau Ubin on Thursday night.
MPA said in a Facebook post on Thursday evening that it was in touch with the Johor Port Authority, which confirmed an oil spill event within the switch.  ,
MPA deployed three guard build and an oil flow reaction craft to survey the area and carry out management initiatives.  ,
The government said in an upgrade early on Friday that drones and dish pictures have been activated to check the surrounding waters for any more oil areas.
An extra fuel healing technique known as the Marine Oil Sweeper has also been deployed off Pulau Ubin and is on standby in case another fuel areas at water are detected.
National advised the people against swimming and other major call water activities at Changi Beach and Pasir Ris Beach until further notice.
Pieces of the seaside at Changi Beach Park will also be cordoned off to help clean-up activities.
As a precautionary measure, people access to Chek Jawa Wetlands is partially closed until further notice.  ,
” No various oil areas at sea and onshore have been sighted at this time”, said the government.
” MPA and partner organizations continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates if there are major innovations”.
