The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) has rolled out four new services to assist all of its customers in the process of switching to the use of clean and sustainable energy.
Jaturong Suriyasasin, MEA deputy governor, yesterday said the first service launched is engineering procurement and construction (EPC) in which the MEA will design and install a new electricity system for households and industrial factories.
This includes designing and installing an underground electrical wiring system for corporate customers operating large business projects, he said, adding that the installation of electric transformers and small electrical substations is a part of the service.
The second service is preventive maintenance of the electricity system which requires thermoscan technology to detect possible damage invisible to the naked eye to ensure the system’s safety, Mr Jaturong said.
The third service is the designing and installing of a solar cell system for generating electricity for households, factories and even solar cell farms, he said.
In this service, the MEA’s teams will survey the installation site, calculate the proper size of the solar energy system, and then install the solar cell-based electricity generating system, he said.
Maintenance of the solar energy system can be carried out easily by the customers themselves if they choose, he said.
Only high-quality solar cell panels with a warranty of up to 12 years for quality assurance and 25 years for guaranteeing the electricity generating efficiency will be supplied to MEA’s customers, Mr Jaturong said. A free maintenance service is provided in the first two years, he said.
The last new service is the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for household customers and businesses offering an EV charging station, he said, adding that the charging efficiency and safety of the charging devices or stations are guaranteed by the MEA.
All these four services are now available for customers in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan only, he added.
