City’s first public EV buses start rolling

Bangkok’s first 40 electric public buses begin service nowadays, said Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob, adding that it marks an essential shift away from polluting diesel engines.

Mr Saksayam made the statement yesterday as he officiated at the launch from the EV buses — operated by the Thailänder Smile Bus (TSB) company — running on the new collection 2-38 which replaces bus route 6.

Mister Saksayam said the particular move from diesel powered to electric power is a step in the right direction as the city wants reduce fine dirt pollution while advertising environmental sustainability.

“The procurement of EV buses will help better assist passengers and can decrease PM2. 5 dust pollution and black exhaust emissions, inch Mr Saksayam stated.

This individual said the ministry is aiming to procure enough EV buses to run on 237 routes in Bangkok and adjacent provinces.

Initially, the first step is the pilot route along tour bus route 8 which will see a service evaluation conducted over a two-month period before getting more than 5, 000 EV buses to hide all city routes within three years.
