In response to criticism of the restoration job on social media, a Bangkok town spokeswoman said on Wednesday that trees along the edges of the Khlong Chong Nonsi waterway will not be cut down and are instead being preserved wherever possible.

The state’s Public Works Department is working with environment experts to revitalize the river between Surawong Junction and Rama 3 Road. &nbsp,

According to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration official Aekvarunyoo Ampala, the project aims to maximize the use of the canal’s existing features, minimize existing damage to existing trees, and maintain pedestrian and visitors thoroughfares in good condition. &nbsp,

The general situation of the existing trees was being evaluated, and poor or ill trees were being relocated to various locations. &nbsp,

Along the 1.6 miles between Soi Narathiwat 7 and Chan- Narathiwat Intersection, 53 of the 284 branches had been transplanted after a wellness analysis. &nbsp,

” We will make sure that the plants along Chong Nonsi are not cut down, and we are focusing on conserving them as well as on the proper use of the region in the best interests of the public,” he said. &nbsp,

Yet, there are still people who complain about the plants being cut down on social media.

Comments posted on the X platform&nbsp, under the hashtag #saveต้นพิกุล include,” The trees in the centre of the city are meaningful and have a long history with the people, we are sad that they are being cut down”, &nbsp, and” I do n’t understand the purpose of the project, the place is already beautiful”.
