Cholnan Srikaew, the public health secretary, has signed a piece of legislation stating that hemp cannot be used for outdoor purposes.
” The new regulation will unambiguously state that cannabis may only be used for health purposes. After signing the expenses on Saturday, Dr. Cholnan stated that it will also promote the use of cannabis for a variety of health advantages.
There will be a distinct estimate to control and prevent the use of cannabis for recreational purposes.
He stated that the measure could take the form of a cabinet-passed governmental restriction or it could come from an advisory panel.
The bill’s main idea may be brought before the Lower House for discussion if the government approves it.
Dr. Cholnan stated that the Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Department’s rules, which lists hemp as a managed supplement, may need to be updated if it conflicts with the new legislation.

However, he cautioned that using cannabis for medical purposes at home may be supported by reliable studies and medical practices.
Dr. Cholnan responded that no laws have been passed to withdraw licenses for operating legally-registered stores when asked about the effect on cannabis stores. However, once the law is in effect, cannabis retailers are only allowed to sell the cannabis plant pieces that Thailand has deemed legitimate.
Just products containing more than 0.2 % THC [tetrahydrocannabinol—the primary psychoactive adviser in cannabis—by pounds will be regarded as illegal under the Narcotics Code. Dr. Cholnan added that if the law is passed, it may aid authorities in apprehending people who use cannabis improperly for outdoor purposes.

News reports claim that on January 4, more than €1.1 million ( 41.7 million baht ) worth of cannabis was seized in Dublin, Kildare, Westmeath, and Limerick, Ireland. Revenue inspectors discovered 14.2 kg of the drugs in packages sent from Thailand to various locations in Dublin, each weighing almost €285, 000 ( 10.8 million baht ).
The largest of the four seizures was made in Clane, Co. Kildare, and is thought to be worth €500, 000 ( 18.9 million baht ). A woman in her later 30s was detained after officials searched a home and discovered 25 kg of the drug.
