Chinmoy Krishna Das: India and Bangladesh spar over Hindu monk’s arrest

A new argument has erupted over the situation of minority people in Bangladesh following the arrest of a Hindu friar.

Chinmoy Krishna Das, a director of a Bangladesh-based Hindu company, was arrested on rebellion claims this year, spurring conflicts that led to one dying.

India called on Bangladesh to take steps to ensure the health of” all immigrants” and expressed “deep problem” over the arrest.

Bangladesh responded days afterwards, expressing its “utter despair” at the arrest being “misconstrued by particular rooms”.

Since former prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s ouster in August, in response to weeks-long pupil protests that erupted into global turmoil, the relations between the neighborhood, who have typically shared a nice partnership, have been strained.

Tensions have risen since Mr. Das’s arrest on Monday at the Dhaka aircraft. He is accused of disobeying Bangladesh’s federal flag at a protest in Chittagong, in the south of the country, in October.

His company, Iskcon, has denounced the imprisonment, calling Mr Das a “vocal argue for minority safety”.

On Tuesday, a judge in Chittagong denied parole to Mr Das. According to the police, the van’s supporters surrounded it, causing crime, and he was taken back to prison by hundreds of them. Tasers and break oil were used to disperse the crowd by security forces.
