A 24-year-old Chinese woman who is wanted in her home state has been detained in Pattaya in Chon Buri state for allegedly being a part of a Ponzi scheme that allegedly caused patients more than 150 million ringgit in damages.
Pol Maj Gen Panthana Nuchanart, deputy chief of the Immigration Bureau ( IB ), said during a media briefing to announce the arrest of the Chinese woman and suspects in three other cases on Thursday. She was identified only as Ms. Hu.
When asked to present her card, Ms Hu claimed it was missing. According to Pol Maj GenPanthana, she afterwards went to the Chon Buri immigration department where officers found she had no report of entering the country after checking her fingerprints using the biological system. The police accused her of unlawful access.
The IB coordinated with the Thai consulate to discover that the girl was wanted in connection with a Ponzi investment plan in China. She had duped a large number of Taiwanese citizens into investing in a phony stock exchange program, according to Pol Maj- Gen Panthana.
During doubting, he said,  , the girl admitted to having sneaked into Thailand via biological border crossing near the Golden Triangle region in Chiang Rai state.
She was later turned over to Pattaya City officers place for legal actions.  ,
