TAIPEI: US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi was anticipated to arrive in Taipei down the road Tuesday (Aug 2), people briefed for the matter said, since several Chinese warplanes flew close to the median line dividing the Taiwan Strait, a source told Reuters.
China provides repeatedly warned against Pelosi going to Taiwan, which it promises as its own, and the United States said upon Monday that it would not be intimidated by Chinese “sabre rattling” over the visit.
