Chinese nationals make up about 44% of active pass holders for Malaysia’s retirement residency visa scheme: Minister

As of January 31 of this year, there were over 56, 000 active complete holders under Malaysia’s retirement residency visa program, primarily composed of Chinese nationals.

Tiong King Sing, the minister of tourism, arts, and culture of Malaysia, stated on Monday ( Mar 11 ) that Chinese nationals hold the most active passes among those who are currently enrolled in Malaysia’s Malaysia My Second Home ( MM2H) program, at 24, 765. This accounts for roughly 44 % of the overall number of complete buyers who are effective.

According to the Malay Mail, this was then followed by those from Australia (9, 265 ), South Korea (4, 940 ), Japan (4, 733 ), Bangladesh (3, 604 ), and the United Kingdom (2, 234).

Individually, there are over 1, 000 MM2H go buyers in active status from Taiwan, the United States, Singapore, and India.

Mr. Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah, who had inquired in a political chamber, regarding the most recent MM2H figures and the Malay government’s strategy for improving the program, was Mr. Tiong’s response.

According to The Star, Mr. Tiong stated that” the Tourism Ministry, the Home Ministry, and the Immigration Department are in the process of refining and detailing each proposal to improve the needs of the program by taking into account comments from stakeholders and business people, to increase the number of individuals and promote the appearance of tourists and foreign investors in Malaysia.”

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture unveiled a revised version of the MM2H program in December of last year, adding a three-tiered construction and updated monetary needs.

The revised guide included a number of changes to the registration requirements, including the minimum period of applicants and the fixed deposit requirement for the lowest-tier category.
