China: China is cracking down on “wax jug candy”, a popular treat among kids that is also sold overseas, over food safety issues.
The candies are known for their crunchy texture and colorful appearance, and they are made of beeswax and have syrup. They’ve seen a new surge in popularity, driven by bloggers showcasing the meal.
However, food safety authorities have been ringing with concern over a lack of proper brands, such as manufacturing dates, superior certificates, and manufacturer details.
At least six Chinese regions, including Gansu, Hubei and Sichuan, are cracking down on the favorite treat, according to local media sources, conducting spot checks on firms and confiscating non-compliant items. When quite actions began, according to reports.
In Yuzhong state in Gansu state, authorities inspected 68 businesses around institutions over the weekend. Nearly 100 boxes of the goodies were taken, according to regional news website China Daily, and more than half the people were given the order to take them off their shelves.
Other towns have issued consumer health warnings, stating that while the wax used to make the candies is safe, some manufacturers have discovered using subpar or business wax, which could be harmful to health.
Instead of being swallowed whole, the sweet treats are meant to get chewed to relieve and enjoy the sugar inside.  ,
