According to a foreign ministry spokesperson on Sunday ( Jan 7 ), China will sanction five US military manufacturers in response to the most recent round of US arms sales to Taiwan.

Washington and Beijing frequently disagree over US hands sales to Taiwan. Taiwan’s state rejects the assertion that China considers democratically controlled Taiwan to be its territory.

The restrictions come before Taiwan’s presidential and parliamentary elections on January 13, which China has declared to be a war-or-peace vote.

Last month, the US State Department authorized the sale of$ 300 million worth of equipment to support Taiwan’s tactical information systems.

New arms sales, according to the director,” significantly erode China’s sovereignty and security interests, severely jeopardize peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.”

Darling Systems Land and Armaments, Alliant Techsystems Operations, AeroVironment, Viasat, and Data Link Solutions are the businesses that will be sanctioned.

According to the director, China will freeze these firms ‘ assets and forbid individuals or organizations from working with them.
