China to ban ships from area near Taiwan due to ‘falling rocket wreckage’

BEIJING: A provincial maritime authority said on Sunday, April 16, that China will forbid ships from entering an area north of Taiwan due to” possible falling rocket wreckage ,” days after Beijing conducted extensive military drills around the island.

The maritime security organization of China’s’s eastern Fujian province announced on Thursday that the region, which is about 160 kilometers from Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, will be closed from 9 am to 3 pm local time.

It was further stated that ships may be” forbidden to activate” for the duration of the lockout.

The announcement came after Beijing announced on Wednesday that it intended to implement a no-fly area north of the island due to” house actions.”

According to the ministry, the zone is” on the convergence areas of many international routes ,” and the air restrictions will be in effect on Sunday from 9.30 am to 9.57 am local time.

According to Taiwan’s’s official Central News Agency, the no-fly area will have an impact on about 33 planes, according to Wang Kwo – tsai.
