China says ‘strongly dissatisfied’ with fresh US sanctions

China is” strongly dissatisfied” and “firmly opposed” to fresh US sanctions on Chinese companies over ties to Russia’s war in Ukraine, the commerce ministry said on Sunday ( Aug 25 ).

China calls on the US to stop its improper behavior and will take necessary steps to vehemently protect Chinese firms ‘ legitimate rights and interests, according to a government official.

Washington on Friday slapped down nearly 400 people and businesses it think are aiding Russia’s war in Ukraine, including many Chinese businesses, extending already strict restrictions on Moscow over the war of its neighbor.

According to a State Department point strip outlining its punishment, these include firms in China that are involved in shipping nanotechnology and system resources to Russia.

The punishment specific individuals and businesses both domestically and internationally, according to a declaration from the US Treasury Department.

China’s business department said on Sunday that the action was “typical punitive sanctions” that “disrupt international industry order and rules, impede regular global economic and trade exchanges, and threaten the security and stability of global business and supply chains.”

China has been constantly warned by the United States about its help for Russia’s defense sector. Contrary to the United States and other European nations, China asserts that it is a neutral participant in the conflict and that it is not providing devastating assistance to either side.

But China is a nearby political and economic alliance of Russia, and NATO members have branded Beijing a “decisive facilitator” of the conflict, which it has not condemned.
