China prepares for heavy rain as typhoon nears Shanghai

SHANGHAI: &nbsp, Chinese authorities prepared for heavy rain on Sunday ( Sep 15 ) as a strong typhoon approached the country’s heavily populated eastern seaboard.

Typhoon Bebinca was scheduled to make land along a portion of the beach, including Shanghai, somewhere between Sunday evening and Monday day, according to Beijing’s crisis management ministry.

The storm will bring “local large or exceptionally weighty rainstorms” with “heavy to heavy” downpours between Sunday and Tuesday, according to a statement from the ministry on Saturday.

According to the speech, officials “researched and deployed work on flood and storms control in key areas” at a Saturday meeting.

According to state media, the typhoon caused some flights to and from Shanghai’s major airports to be canceled or rescheduled on Sunday.

According to an official statement posted on the social media accounts of the municipal port and shipping development center, passenger shipping lines in Shanghai were scheduled to be suspended from Sunday.
