On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and North Korea, the leaders of both nations pledged to strengthen bilateral cooperation on Sunday ( October 6), according to Pyongyang’s state news agency, KCNA.
” I attach great significance to the development of the China-DPRK relationships”, China’s President Xi Jinping said in his concept to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, using the letters for North Korea’s established brand, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
China’s willingness to “write a new chapter” of relations was demonstrated by Xi when communication and cooperation were strengthened.
China is by far North Korea’s largest trading partner. The two countries have a history that dates back to Beijing’s support of Pyongyang during the Korean War, which led to the formation of North and South Korea in 1950 and 1953.
However, as Kim’s ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin grew, China reacted cautiously in June. A strategic agreement that includes elements of mutual defense was signed by North Korea and Russia this year.
Kim pledged to” steadily strive to consolidate and develop the friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and China as required by the new era” in his message to Xi.
