A natural sciences PhD candidate was deported by authorities at Dulles aircraft in December, according to China Science Daily, a paper affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She was trying to return to the US to pursue her research.
According to the report, the scholar was questioned for eight hours in an interrogation room before being placed in isolation for 12 days.
When she returned to China, she learned of 10 other , Chinese learners  , who had similar experiences. According to the newspaper, the students were primarily questioned about their involvement in personal research and their academic scholarships from the China Scholarship Council.
According to Mao Ning, a spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry, the US has slowed down employees exchanges between the two nations, a practice that goes against the compromise among the heads of state.
She claimed that some people in the US had a” cold war culture” and that the incidents were “political and discriminatory laws police.”
Next month, department spokeswoman Wang Wenbin said US authorities were “weaponising” scientific research, overextending the concept of regional security, persecuting Taiwanese students, and “poisoning” the atmosphere of diplomatic people- to- people exchanges.
