Travelers who have been turned down by establishments have even shared their experiences. Anjoe Koh, a Malaysian YouTuber, reported last year that she and a friend in China “repeatedly confirmed” with a hotel that foreign guests were being accepted, but she was turned down when she arrived because the hotel “did n’t have the resources.”
” A lot of hotels do n’t accept foreign guests, especially during the Asian Games. Do n’t simply book your hotel online and arrive, you will be turned away”! Next September, Ms Koh shared a post about visiting Ningbo in an Instagram account. World of Buzz, a Malay news website, reported on her practice.
However, the difference between hotels that accept and do not take international guests has been eliminated since 2013, according to a former major writer at the state-linked Global Times.  ,
In an opinion article published on Monday ( May 27 ), Mr. Hu Xijin wrote in an opinion article in the publication that this is true of all notices published by relevant Chinese government bodies in 2013.
He wrote that all hotels in China may accept visitors from abroad, but they must comply with the law’s requirements for the enrollment method.
Hotels are required to file the information of their foreign friends with local people safety organizations in accordance with Article 39 of China’s Exit and Entry Administration Laws.  ,
Within 24 hours of arriving, foreigners who are n’t staying in hotels or their hosts must notify the local authorities about their accommodations.  ,
Those who do n’t comply with this will receive a warning and be subject to a fine of 2, 000 yuan ( US$$ 276 ).  ,
Hotels will be alerted if they do n’t provide the local authorities with the details of the guests ‘ accommodations. ” Where conditions are severe”, these hotels may be fined 1, 000 yuan to 5, 000 renminbi, the law state.
Some accommodations and local government organizations may not be aware of this and are concerned about ejected overseas visitors, according to Mr. Hu.  ,
He explained that hotel reception employees may be concerned about being fined if they violate the enrollment method.  ,
It might be because of this that they wo n’t serve foreigners because, according to Mr. Hu, it’s “better to earn less than be fined.”  ,
