a bridge collapsed in northern China on Saturday ( Jul 20 ), killing 11 people, according to the state news agency Xinhua.
The gate in Shaanxi country’s Shangluo collapsed at around 8.40pm on Friday “due to a sudden rainstorm and display storms”, Xinhua said, citing the provincial public relationships office.
According to Xinhua, save businesses were in full swing on Saturday morning, with five cars thus far being recovered from the water.
A half submerged part of the bridge was captured in images on state television’s Video, with the creek rushing over it.
More than 30 people were likewise missing, according to state Television.
Since Tuesday, heavy rains have impacted northern and central China, which have caused flooding and major damage.
At least five people were reported dead and eight missing on Friday in Shaanxi’s Baoji area as a result of the storms that sparked flood and landslides.
China is experiencing a summer of severe weather, with large storms coming from the east and the north as well as a slew of heat waves sweeping the north.
