Child abuse case: Anwar vows not to back down in probe against GISB conglomerate

Officials in Malaysia rescued 402 children and teenagers from reportedly GISB-owned care facilities in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan on Sep 11th. First studies revealed that at least 13 of them had been sodomized or otherwise trained to sexually abuse other people.

And as of Sep 24, FMT reported that the amount of those who were saved has since increased to 572 children and teenagers.

More than 300 people – including GISB’s top management – have since been detained.

SELANGOR TO INVESTIGATE OVER 600 Citizens

In addition, the Selangor Islamic Religious Department ( JAIS ) announced that the police had cooperated fully in the investigation of 612 allegedly GISB-linked individuals.

” On the day the police started Operation Global on September 11, JAIS established a specific commission led by its director to create a dedicated team that would address and take certain actions regarding the arrests made by the authorities.

According to Selangor Islamic Affairs Committee Chairman Dr. Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, according to the New Straits Times ( NST ), “JAIS has received full cooperation from the police to investigate the 612 individuals under the Syariah Criminal Enactment ( Selangor ) 1995.”

Of the 612 people, 386 have been identified as rescued victims, 184 categorised as Persons of Interest ( POI ) and the remaining 42 are awaiting classification from the police.

Eight specific investigating officers were chosen to continue the research into a number of significant cases involving prominent GISB employees, according to Dr. Fahmi.

In addition, Dr. Fahmi claimed that the state authorities would work with the Selangor Islamic Religious Council to create a refined and effective system in response to GISB’s efforts to collect funds from Muslims through charitable organizations for the benefit of their team.
