KUALA LUMPUR: After a period associated with chicken supply disruptions in Malaysia, the problem has stabilised right after steps taken by the federal government, said Agriculture and Food Industries Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) Ronald Kiandee on Monday (Aug 1).
He furthermore told parliament that Malaysia is now in an oversupply situation and may export chickens to other countries.
Mr Kiandee said that Malaysia got faced a disruption in chicken production in recent months but this has already been overcome by plan measures. These include raising imports and ceasing exports.
“These simple steps have resulted in a good oversupply of poultry now, causing its price to drop beneath the ceiling price set by the government, ” added the particular minister. “
“At this point of time, we could produce 106 per cent of our needs pertaining to chicken. This means we have the capacity to foreign trade chicken from our country. ”
