Sincere leaders with a solid commitment to tackling graft are the essential to success in fighting against data corruption, said Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt, tagging Anti-Corruption Day on Tuesday.

Speaking at a seminar in Bangkok, this individual said these key  organisers play an important part in the prevention and suppression of graft.

The governor cited three types of frontrunners.

Those in the first class are at the center of corruption, and so are surrounded by subordinates who have bribed their own way into a place where they both serve and feed off their dodgy bosses, said Mister Chadchart.

Although the second kind of leaders have a thoroughly clean sheet themselves, they have got frequently turned a blind eye towards the wrongdoings of subordinates.

The 3rd type is both corruption-free and committed to fighting to eliminate corruption, said the governor.

Corruption may come in the form of a gift, regardless of its value, offered to officials.

Town Hall has a zero-tolerance policy on presents of any type plus strictly follows the rules of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) upon such matters, Mr Chadchart said.

He likened government officials’ used to receiving freebies from private parties to a tiny, contaminated wound that will ultimately turn into the tetanus of corruption.

“If we weren’t worried about our personal interests so much we would never owe anyone anything and any influential figures would mean nothing to you. Stay with fair and accountable principles and function nothing else but the general public interest, ” the particular governor said.

Aside from market leaders with a clean sheet, functional anti-corruption networks and effective graft-fighting technology are crucial in waging war towards corruption, said Mr Chadchart.

The Anti-Corruption Firm of Thailand (ACT) has introduced AI technologies which has been developed to give members of the public the ability to notify authorities to graft at the touch of a button, said Wichian Phongsathorn, president of the organisation.

The use of this AI technology recently led to a successful attempt to reveal irregularities surrounding Samut Prakan’s notorious purchase of solar-powered street lamps topped along with mythical kinnari figures, he stated.
