Cathay Pacific cuts a dozen flights a day until end of February to ease strain on operations

In order to prevent disruption in the upcoming months, Cathay claimed to have reviewed its flight schedule and put more planes on standby.

According to Cathay Group CEO Ronald Lam Siu- par,” we have taken steps to ensure that Catray Pacific’s flights may work usually for the upcoming Chinese New Year go peak.”

” Hong Kong residents who are departing from Hong Kong and visitors arriving can be reassured that their journey likely proceed as scheduled.”

In response to the COVID-19 epidemic, Cathay changed employees contract terms and conditions and announced in November that it intended to hire 5,000 more employees in 2024.

Cathay’s passenger business had 58 % of the pilots it had before the pandemic, according to the Hong Kong Aircrew Officers Association ( HKAOA ), which speaks for some of its employees.

Paul Weatherilt, the agency’s president, informed SCMP that the flight had “unrealistic targets” in mind when resuming flight operations.

He claimed that the program is n’t really able to handle these changes because they cause more than one trip to be cancelled.

Cathay gave no new day for rebuilding its cargo and passenger ability to pre-pandemic levels during a briefing to analysts in November.

According to the airline, passenger capacity was 62 % of 2019 levels in October, and cargo operations were 79 %.
