Cambodia sends suspect in ex-politician killing to Thailand

Cambodian police announced on Saturday ( Jan 11 ) that they had handed over a man suspected of killing a former opposition leader in a brutal attack in Bangkok.

A motorcyclist shot dead former Cambodian National Rescue Party ( CNRP ) member Lim Kimya on Tuesday as he arrived in Bangkok by bus with his French wife.

Hun Sen, the country’s strong former president, has been accused of ordering the shooting by Cambodian opposition figures. &nbsp, A Thai government official denied the claims.

France has condemned the shooting of Lim Kimya, who likewise held French citizen.

Thailand has requested his returning, and authorities in Cambodia said they made the statement on Wednesday.

Although some Thai internet called the suspect Ekkalak Paenoi and claimed he was a past Thai sea, they still identified him as Ekkalak Pheanoi.

According to Chhay Kim Khoeun, a spokesman for the Cambodian National Police,” We have sent him to Indian government this day.”

Authorities were reportedly waiting for the suspect at the boundary on Saturday morning, according to Indian state broadcaster ThaiPBS.
