Suwanna Kumphiro, a Bhumjaithai Party MP, was disqualified from running for office for ten years for violating election regulations, and the Supreme Court has now ordered a re-election in Bueng Kan’s Constituency 2.
The judge also ordered Mr. Suwanna to pay a sum of about 10 million ringgit in payment for the expenses associated with the election’s May 14, 2023, which was afterwards annulled.
The Election Commission (EC ) found sufficient evidence to support the claim that Mr. Suwanna harmed electoral law by holding an entertainment event to draw more voters during the election campaign.
A pick-up vehicle with a sound and loudspeakers was used on April 16, 2023, according to the EC, to inspire attendees with songs at a merit-winning event in Ban Nong Thum in Bueng Kan province’s Seka district.
The EC said that during the event, the vehicle sometimes played an election campaign position with the songs repeating:” Mr Mum]Mr Suwanna’s name ] Number 10″.
Suwanna: Violated vote rules
A person operating the vehicle was also spotted yelling out a loudspeaker to thank Mr. Suwanna for his financial support.
According to the EC’s results, the vehicle was owned by Mr Suwanna’s previous wife, who was also his plan associate.
All of this information persuaded the EC that Mr. Suwanna had provided the town with this enjoyment truck for free.
According to the EC, the person on the trailer also gave the impression that this was true.
This was deemed to be in violation of election laws, which prohibit individuals from holding any pleasure function with the intention of persuading the audience to support them, according to the EC.
Mr Suwanna is the next MP from Bhumjaithai to become disqualified.
The second expulsion involved Mookdawan Luangsinil, the group’s MP in Constituency 8 of Nakhon Si Thammarat.
The re-election for Bueng Kan’s Constituency 2 may be held within 45 weeks of Feb 18, when the judge rescinded Mr Suwanna’s vote right.
