An extra budget has been approved for the current fiscal year in the Pheu Thai Party-led administration’s premier digital wallet policy.

The 122 billion ringgit will be funded by the system, starting on Saturday, according to the Royal Gazette‘s announcement on Friday.

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra stated at the” Vision for Thailand” platform that the group’s handout plan is required to raise a slow economy on Thursday.

We must stimulate the economy because our nation has grown slowly for a long time, Thaksin said, outlining the advantages of the flyer program, which was a vital strategy guarantee for his party in the election of last year.

According to Thaksin’s remarks on Thursday, Paetongtarn, his daughter, would likely carry out the plan, which has drawn criticism from the Bank of Thailand ( BoT ) and economic experts.

He said the state might use 145 billion ringgit from the governmental budget for 2024 to distribute aid to 14.5 million individuals in September, with additional aid beginning in October.

” It will be an instant financial increase in September”, he said.

Following the departure of Srettha Thavsin as prime minister by the Constitutional Court, the scheme’s goal of disbursing 10,000 baht via a digital wallet to around 50 million available Thais hangs in the balance.

Thailand’s market grew 2.3 % in the April-June quarter from a year earlier, beating objectives amid plan confusion following the change in government.
